The Lyle Lanier Lecture RETURNS!

Date
08/22/23

Established in 1986, this lectureship is in honor of Lyle Lanier, who served as Head of Psychology, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Provost at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

After a three-year pause, we were excited to bring back the series with Dr. Daniel Simons, co-author of his new book, "Nobody's Fool" as our featured speaker.

From phishing scams to Ponzi schemes, fraudulent science to fake art, chess cheaters to crypto hucksters, and marketers to magicians, our world brims with deception. During his talk, Prof. Simons explained why we are so easily deceived and what we can do about it.

It was held in the main auditorium of the Campus Instructional Facility. There was a Q&A session following the talk with a book signing co-sponsored with the Illini Union bookstore.
