Research Description
I am interested in specific types of pleasant and unpleasant emotions, such as cheerfulness, contentment, sadness, and fear. Currently, I am exploring, using a daily diary study, how psychological needs are associated with specific emotions.
I am also interested in the associations between specific pleasant emotions and depression. Previous studies from the BEAST Lab have found that contentment is strongly associated with depression, even when other pleasant emotions are considered. I am interested in explaining the mechanisms that can explain this association. To do so, I am currently conducting a daily diary study that explores some potential explanations, such as a sense of being broken.
