The Health Equity and Action Lab (HEAL Lab), directed by Dr. Violeta J. Rodriguez (Clinical-Community Division, Department ofbem Psychology), studies how parenting, stress, and cultural factors shape mental health and well-being among diverse families. We use quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods approaches to better understand family processes and health equity.
Students can earn PSYC 290 course credit for their work in our lab or choose to apply as a volunteer. Research assistants will have the opportunity to assist with literature reviews, data management and coding, survey preparation, and team meetings. No previous research experience is required—training will be provided.
We will be reviewing applications from November 1, 2025, to January 15, 2026. Applicants will be notified via email by January 15, 2026, regarding Spring 2026 positions.
