Are you interested in gaining research experience and exploring your interests in clinical research? The Alcohol Research Lab (ARL) is currently recruiting a limited number of undergraduate research assistants. In the ARL, we explore the effect of alcohol on social, cognitive, and emotional responses. Specifically, we are interested in looking at the reinforcing effects of alcohol in social contexts in order to get a better sense of the different factors that put an individual at risk of developing a problem with alcohol.
Research assistants aid in a variety of different aspects of our research including screening, recruiting, and data management. We are currently recruiting for a natural language processing project examining differences in intoxicated speech patterns. Research assistants on this project will help preprocess data for analysis and become more familiar with advanced computational methods and their applications within alcohol research.
Please note: this position is only for the Summer of 2026. All work can be completed completely asynchronously.
If you are interested, please fill out this application. We are reviewing applications and interviewing students on a rolling basis. If you have any questions about the position, please contact Laith Smeir at lsmeir2@illinois.edu.
