The Ecologies of Liberation Lab, led by Dr. Todd, investigates mental health disparities among LGBTQ+ populations. We focus on socioecological contributors to health – examining how individuals, communities, institutions, and policies shape wellbeing. A central thread in our work explores religion’s complex role as both a risk and protective factor in LGBTQ+ mental health.
Who Should Apply:
- Sophomore standing or above (by Fall 2026)
- Commit to 6-9 hours a week (through PSYC 290)
- Eligible to take PSYC 290: Research Experience in Psychology
- Interested in LGBTQ+ communities, religion/spirituality, or mental health
We're looking for students who are curious, reliable, and interested in health equity research. Prior research experience is not required – we will train you. What matters most is an interest in the work and commitment to your role in the lab.
What You Will Do:
- Help build a software that calculates structural stigma indicators across the U.S., work that will become a public resource for researchers nationwide
- Assist with systematic literature searching, screening, and data extraction to synthesize research on contributors to LGBTQ+ health
What You Will Gain
