Head of Academic Advising, Gary Wszalek from Psychology has been identified as one the top staff members making a positive impact in students lives during the annual Chancellor's Senior Survey. The survey, distributed to all graduating seniors at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign campus, asks students to "name one faculty or staff member who made a positive impact on [their] experiences at Illinois".
Over 900 faculty and staff were named by students. However, Gary Wszalek was one of the most frequently identified campus members. He became one of 38 individuals to be recognized by Chancellor Robert J. Jones for his work contributing the well-being of students on campus.
Gary serves as the head of academic advising for Psychology and helps students navigate courses and career preparation. He offers both scheduled and drop-in advising and has developed much of the undergraduate major's online information, helping student become informed about their degree options.
We are grateful for Gary's contributions to the Department and to the Campus and congratulate him for this well-deserved recognition.
