Are you interested in gaining research experience and exploring your interests in clinical research? The Alcohol Research Lab is currently recruiting two on-site undergraduate research assistants for Summer 2026. There is also an opportunity to continue in this position through Fall 2026 and beyond, if interested. In the Alcohol Research Lab, we explore the effects of alcohol on social, cognitive, and emotional responses. Specifically, we are interested in looking at the reinforcing effects of alcohol in social contexts in order to gain a better sense of the different factors that put individuals at risk of developing problematic alcohol use.

Research assistants aid in a variety of different aspects of our research, including screening, recruiting, and data management. At this time, we are primarily seeking individuals to assist with recruitment and screening efforts, as well as our Ambulatory Ecological Assessment study. For the ambulatory study, responsibilities include coding ecological photos collected via Expiwell as a secondary coder, managing datasets, assisting with preprocessing, and potentially running experimental sessions as a backup experimenter. There will likely be opportunities to get involved in other projects within the lab as well!

We ask that research assistants 1) commit 10 hours per week to the lab during the summer, and 2) have some evening and weekend availability to attend recruitment events a few times per month.

If you are interested in joining the lab, please fill out this application. We are reviewing applications and interviewing students on a rolling basis. If you have any questions about the position, please contact Jana Ji (yueerji2@illinois.edu) and Caroline Storen (cstoren@illinois.edu).
