Psychology For The Public Good with Dr. Mitch Prinstein

Date
09/11/24

Join us on Friday, September 20th, at 4:00 p.m. at the Campus Instructional Facility Auditorium as we welcome Dr. Mitch Prinstein, the Chief Science Officer of the American Psychological Association.

He will be present his talk titled, "Social Media and Adolescent Mental Health: The Current Science and Recommendations."

Is social media evil?  Has it caused the youth mental health crisis?  Will teens’ brains explode if they watch more than 10 TikTok videos?  This talk will review the scientific evidence demonstrating that teens’ use of social media is a highly complex question, and as data begin to accumulate, we are starting to find many nuanced answers.  Summarizing extant data from psychology and neuroscience, this presentation offers updates to educate parents, inform educators, guide policy-makers, and offer reasonable solutions based on what we know so far.

This "Psychology For The Public Good" lecture will conclude with a Q&A session and refreshments in the adjoining room.

The event is free and open to the public.
