Research Description

The Social Cognition Lab focuses on understanding how humans perceive and evaluate others. Much of the work in the lab focuses on understanding relatively automatic (unintentional, uncontrollable, fast, and/or unconscious) processes and how social attitudes emerging from these processes are formed and updated.

Siyu is interested in the expectations that people carry into social interactions, how social interactions affect people’s perception of themselves and others, and how they affect how people feel and act. He is also interested in how people perceive group dynamics and coalitions, and how these perceptions in turn affect people’s attitudes, behaviors, and decision-making.
