Kathy Olesker Pounds (B.S. 1971) pursued graduate work in community counseling and provided social services in the poorer sections of Miami before deciding to enroll in law school at Northwestern University. Pounds became a litigator with a Miami law firm and was assigned to represent an international conglomerate, headquartered in New York City where she met her future husband, Ralph Pounds. She began a career in the telecommunications industry, where she held positions at GTE and MCI. She retired after the WorldCom acquisition of MCI was completed.
